General description of the collection: David L. Hartline photograph collection is an accumulation of photos, mostly individual soldiers, many unnamed from 1880 to 1945. There are two postcard photos of sailors, three stereo views the most significant of which is "Temporary hospitals at Fort Mason", established for aid to people stricken during the San Francisco earthquake of 1906, one a WWI group photo of Company C, 10th U.S. Infantry at Camp Otis, Fort Benjamin Harrison, Indiana. One of the two WWII photos is a group photo of a just completed basic training unit. A few miscellaneous photos are of an American Red Cross worker and a young cadet from a military school. Since very few of these photos are captioned their usefulness is negligible.
